Why ELK

Built by engineers. Managed like major projects.

Most builders outsource engineering and hope the drawings work on site. We design, engineer and build in-house — bringing the rigour of industrial project delivery to your home.

Start your build conversation
01

Engineering in-house

Registered Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ) design footings, slabs, steel and retaining for your specific site — no hand-offs, fewer surprises.

02

Transparent cost planning

Detailed, itemised estimates built from your drawings, so you understand exactly where your budget goes before you commit.

03

Disciplined project control

Programmed milestones, documented variations and regular progress reporting — the same systems we use on commercial and industrial projects.

04

One accountable team

Design, approvals, trades and fabrication coordinated by a single project manager who knows your home inside out.

What we build

Premium homes for Queensland living.

Every home is designed around its site, its climate and the way you live. No display-home floor plans.

Custom new homes

Architecturally designed one- and two-storey homes, built to your brief with premium finishes throughout.

Knockdown & rebuild

Love your street, outgrown your house? We manage demolition, approvals and your new build end to end.

Sloping & acreage sites

Complex sites are where in-house engineering pays off — split levels, suspended slabs, retaining and long driveways.

Coastal & riverside homes

Designed for Queensland wind ratings, flood overlays and corrosive environments, with materials selected to last.

+

Major extensions

Large-scale luxury renovations and second-storey additions, structurally engineered to integrate seamlessly.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Can’t see your question? Call 1300 848 825 and speak with our building team.

How much does a premium custom home cost in Queensland?

Every custom home is priced to its design, size, finishes and site conditions — sloping, coastal or flood-affected blocks can change costs significantly. That’s why we start with a feasibility review and early cost planning, so your design is developed to your budget rather than priced after the fact.

How long does a custom home build take?

Timeframes depend on design complexity, approvals, site conditions and weather. We provide a program covering design, approvals and construction before you sign, and keep it updated throughout the build.

Can you build from my architect’s plans?

Yes. We regularly work with clients’ architects and designers, and our in-house engineers can review and complete the structural design. If you’re starting from scratch, we can manage the full design process for you.

I don’t own land yet — can you still help?

Yes. We can review a block before you buy and flag slope, soil, overlay and access issues that affect build cost — often the most valuable advice you’ll get before signing a contract of sale.

What protections do I have as a homeowner?

Residential building work in Queensland must be performed by a QBCC licensed contractor under a compliant domestic building contract. Deposits are regulated, and eligible work is covered by the QBCC Home Warranty Scheme. We’ll walk you through these protections before you commit.

What happens at the first consultation?

We discuss your brief, budget, land and timeframe, and give you honest feedback on feasibility and next steps. There’s no obligation to proceed.
